Rectal Cancer

Rectal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancerous) cells form in the tissues of the rectal (the last several inches of the large intestine closest to the anus). Body wastes are stored in the rectum until it is eradicated from the body through the anus.rectal-cancer Because the rectal is a part of the digestive system of body, so any damage may harm of human life. Rectum comes in contact with cancerous cell as it begins as cellular changes in the topmost layer of the epithelium. If it is diagnosed in its earliest stages then rectal cancer is highly curable through the early treatment; otherwise in later stage when cancerous cells migrates around the body via the lymphatic system and develop secondary cancers, treatment becomes more critical. Unlike other cancer, rectal cancer also takes form through two types of tumor- benign and malignant tumors. Benign tumors are not cancerous whereas malignant tumors are cancerous & hazardous for life.

The clear cause is not identified of rectal cancer; however some irregularities or wrong regularities are the factors that may increase the risk of coon cancer such as old age (aged 50), bowel disease, diet of high fat, family history/genetic factors, smoking and consuming excessive alcohol. The common threatening symptoms of colon cancer are- change in bowel habits, diarrhea, constipation, or feeling that the bowel does not empty completely, stools that are narrower than usual, red or dark blood in stool, abdominal discomfort such as frequent gas pains, bloating, fullness or cramps, sudden weight loss, vomiting and constant tiredness.

An oncologist or surgeon starts treatment after the diagnosis of the disease. The tools and techniques which are usually used for the diagnosis of rectal cancer are such as digital rectal exam, barium enema, fecal occult blood test, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test, indorectal ultrasound sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy and biopsy. After the diagnosis, doctor prepares for the treatment. The most common treatment for rectal cancer is surgery. Some other procedures of treatment are radiation therapy, chemotherapy, biological treatment and immunotherapy or a combination of these approaches. Through the surgery, a surgically created opening is made in the abdominal wall through which waste is excreted and cancerous tumor is removed. Surgeon removes cinereous cell depending on the location, stage and size of your tumor. Radiation therapy is used when cancerous cell is spread over the large area.

Recovery time may take several weeks or even months. After the treatment, ultimately patient achieves his/her strong & normal health and can carry a fit daily life.
