Brow Lift

The brow lift (also refers to forehead lift or browplasty) is procedure of cosmetic surgery in which surgeon cosmetically makes correct drooping and designs sagging in the forehead skin, upper eyelids and eyebrows. It is desire of everyone to achieve a younger, more refreshed look and have a smooth forehead. Sunrays, wind, and the pull of gravity all affect the face, resulting in wrinkling across the forehead, and an increasing heaviness of the eyebrows. Drooping eye brow and wrinkles usually hamper an individual's appearance and sometimes also impairs the patient's vision. The cosmetic surgery of brow lift is designed to smooth creases on the forehead while raising the brow line and reducing frown lines to create a more attractive look against the age or any cause. Through the surgery the tired, angry, or sad expression of people may not be a sign of how they actually feel. This surgery allows the tissue and muscle underneath the skin to be repositioned, altered or detached, correcting the source of visible creases in the forehead.

There are two methods of eyebrow lift: The classic lift & the endoscopic lift. The classic lift entails a continuous incision, beginning at the level of ears and going up around hair line. Depending on position of the hair line, the surgeon moves the incision line to avoid a visible scar.

Instead of making one continuous incision, in endoscopic lift, surgeon makes a few shorter incisions in the scalp. Small camera is inserted by the surgeon in order to view the tissues and muscles from a screen. At the same time, another device is inserted in another incision to make the necessary alterations. This enables the surgeon to see the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. Surgeon then removes some of these to create the smoother and younger looking forehead. At the end of surgery, when the incisions are closed, they are done so horizontally to give additional lift to the brow.

The procedure takes almost 1-2 hours to complete and it is performed under local anesthetic and a mild sedative. An overnight stay is required to get comfortable post surgical care. Patients may experience mild swelling but any pain is minimal and easily controlled by medication. It is advised to patients to keep their heads elevated for some days to minimize swelling. Usually patient can return to daily routing work in 1-2 weeks after the brow lift surgery.
