Liposculpture (FAT Transfer)

The word fat transfer is commonly known as 'Liposculpture' in medicinal world and sometimes also known as 'liposelection' is an advanced form of liposuction and the two terms are frequently used interchangeably. The liposculpture is a kind of cosmetic surgery intended to improve the bodies shape by taking the fat from one area of body, such as the thighs or stomach, and injected or grafted into another area to fill it out. Many women have a natural depression due to low fat in some of the body part like an area to the side of the buttock and below the hip where they desire for the fat. To make a smooth outline some of the fatty stuff from another area can be used to increase the volume of fat in this area to offer a better cosmetic result.

The procedure is equally adaptable and is being used on the face to help with acne or other scars. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. The procedure begins by injecting an anesthetic and blood staunching solution. This formulates the fat swell up and the fat cells become weak, so that they can be drained off without any difficulties by using a fine needle. The area from which fat is to be removed and the area in which fat is to be injected, both the donor and recipient areas are cleansed.

Surgeon identifies a suitable donor place and makes a small cut in the area. Fat is removed through a small incision from the abdomen or thigh areas by using a very tiny needle and syringe. Once fat is extracted, the fat is re-injected into the recipient location to create the desired effect. "Hollow cheeks" that have vanished fat due to aging can also be filled out with fat transfer injections.

Procedure of surgery takes around 1-3 hours to perform depending on the dimension of the treatment area. Patient is needed to be in hospital for a few hours however, if a large amount of fat is extracted then overnight stay is usually required. Swelling and bruising may be experienced for a few weeks but it will automatically be normal after some weeks. It is advised to wear a dressing over the area for a few days as prescribed by the doctor. The overall results will be visible and shape will continue to improve over the next six months to a year. At the end of time a more shapely figure builds and your appearance make you more confident.
