Liposuctiuon
Liposuction, scientifically also known as "lipoplasty", is a cosmetic surgery that removes fat from many different parts on the human body. The affected area can be from tummy, thighs to the neck and also to backs of the arms or in another place. This surgery aims to remove excess fat where exercise and dieting attempt have failed to slim down certain areas of the body. Introduced in 1982, it has become one of the most popular cosmetic surgery option in the medicinal world. After the successful completion of surgery, patient can get a slimmer, smoother figure and feel confident in his/her appearance.
Liposuction surgery starts on with the placing on a slim, hollow tube known as a cannula into small incisions close to the area to be treated. Initially cannula is inserted under the skin through small incisions (4 to 6 mm in length in the least visible locations) and then fat stored on skin are reduced with suction provided by a vacuum pump. Covering more areas at one time may result a more balanced and natural look. After the removal of sufficient fat from the area, incision is made close by the surgeon. The treatment has brought a tremendous solution for those who are striving to get better their bodies and appearance. For many sufferers it has emerged like a boon that makes true their dream to maintain body configuration as it removes fat that diet and exercise have little impact on. Liposuction can be operated to most areas of the body like abdomen, buttocks, hips, knees, inner and outer thighs, double chin and normally the male 'breast' area. Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity rather it is a technique to remove unwanted fat deposited in specific parts of the body. The treatment is neither intended for weight control nor a substitute for regular physical activity and a healthy balanced diet.
In human body, there are two categories of fat tissue, (fat directly under the skin) and a deep layer of fat. Both can be measured and targeted depending on the level of liposuction surgery. There are simply pinch test carried out by doctor to measure the enough fat cells in a given area. No liposuction surgery is required if the little layer of fat is found during the pinch measurement. The technique of laser-assisted liposuction is a different in some extent in which the fat cells of the skin are melted and loosened with a laser before removal.
General anesthesia is performed during the surgery for minimizing the pain of patient. The procedure of surgery takes approximately one to two hour, depending on the quantity of fat to be removed. Patient is required to stay for entire day of the surgery although sometimes night stay under the observation of doctors may be required depending on amount of incisions. Generally patients return to their normal daily work after the3 days of surgery, although bruising and numbness may end for up to 2 weeks. In extreme cases, swelling may last as long as 2 months.
