Laser Eye Surgery

Laser eye surgery (also known as lasik eye surgery) is a type of ophthalmologic treatment, is performed to correct near or far-sighted vision by correcting myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism in order to reduce or remove a person's need to wear glasses or contact lenses that give inconvenience in patient's daily life. Laser Eye Surgery This is laser-assisted surgical procedure permanently alters the shape of the cornea and offer a flawless vision to the defected eyes. Since the lasik treatment corrects the unique imperfections in each individual's vision, it is possible that the patient will have improved day and night-vision clearer than even before. Immediately after the surgery, patient can see clearly.

As an individual reaches in senile age, or due to any reason, you find that the lenses of the eyes have gone out of whack. It's for this reason that you are forced to use spectacles or contact lens to do even the simplest things, such as watching TV or reading anything. Patient does no longer need to use vision enhancers to see clearly by using lasers that correct the position of these lenses. You can achieve a perfect eye sight and see with your own vision, as nature intended. The two major types of laser eye surgery are LASIK & PRK. LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is just a newer type of PRK (Photo Refractive Keratectomy) laser surgical procedure for eyes. Where the PRK procedure involves a surface ablation technique to remove the cornea's outermost layer (epithelium), LASIK technique uses a microkeratome metal blade to cut the cornea flap and create a flap through a cutting technique to reshape the eye.

Laser Eye Surgery

Surgery is performed by using anesthetic drops. A very slight (about 0.16 mm) and accurate flap is raised by a particular instrument known as microkeratome. The result is a corneal flap attached at one edge, the hinge. The ophthalmologist surgeon folds the flap to expose the inner stromal layer of the cornea. The excimer laser treatment is applied on this stromal bed to modify it. After this the flap is repositioned to its original place, it does not require any suture. Since the corneal epithelium has only been minimally disturbed, there is only soft uneasiness after the procedure.

The surgical procedure takes usually takes only about 30 to 60 minutes per eye depending on how poor your eyesight is, and what type of problems you have to cause your eyesight to worsen. Patient can go back home after 20-30 minutes after the surgery. Some minimal pain can be experienced after the surgery and bandages can be removed after a long nap at home. It is proved that the laser eye surgery is beneficial to you and your life in many different ways to get a perfect natural vision.
